Michael Macdonald speaking on stage

About Michael Macdonald

Had you known me as a child, you might not have expected me to become a public speaking and communication coach. I grew up in a time when children were taught to “be seen and not heard.” Always on the outside looking in, told to keep quiet, I became a keen listener and observer instead. But one day, after witnessing a conflict and finding myself unable to speak up, I began to question my fear of judgment and criticism—and that moment sparked a lifelong journey of growth that I now share with others.

I’ve traveled and taught in Nigeria, West Africa, and Papua New Guinea. I’ve always been drawn to connecting with people across diverse ethnocultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and I found deep joy in those moments when I could guide students toward discovery and learning, rather than simply telling them what to do.

Later, I continued my journey by owning and operating a bed & breakfast in Costa Rica. My goal in hospitality was to be of service—to understand my guests’ needs and desires and help make their stay truly memorable. Learning to do all that in Spanish made the challenge even more rewarding.

When I entered the real estate world, I noticed that many realtors talked too much, focusing on “selling” themselves rather than connecting with clients. I found more meaning—and success—by listening, asking questions, and genuinely connecting.

As a managing broker with an open-door policy, I encouraged my fellow realtors to share their struggles and successes. I worked with them to find solutions, offering presence, listening, and empowering support. Over time, this naturally evolved into the coaching practice I have today.

Connect with people. Listen to them and find out what they need.
Work together to achieve it.”

I founded The Macdonald Method to share the transformative power of intentional communication with those who are ready to do the work—whether it’s public speaking, leadership, or personal empowerment.

My goal is to foster a safe judgement-free space—where one explores, experiments, and grows. This isn’t about rigid instruction—it’s a dynamic, collaborative journey. Real growth comes from taking risks, celebrating missteps, and pushing beyond our comfort zone.

You’ll challenge yourself, laugh often, and uncover strengths you didn’t even know you had. Because real transformation happens when you feel seen, supported, and empowered to be fully yourself—anytime, anywhere, in any situation.

My mission is to help you become the most confident, authentic version of yourself—through The Macdonald Method.

My motto, no matter where you are, is …

Be seen. Be heard. Be remarkable.

I am passionate about equipping individuals with the skills they need to succeed in various professional and personal settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing remarkable transformations in my clients’ abilities to articulate their ideas persuasively and deliver compelling speeches.

I take pride in the positive feedback and results from my clients, who consistently report newfound confidence and success in their public speaking endeavors. It’s incredibly rewarding to see individuals evolve from nervous speakers to confident communicators who can captivate and inspire their audience.

If you’re looking to enhance your public speaking skills and unlock your full potential as a communicator, I invite you to experience the transformative journey that countless clients have embarked on with me.
